Description
ComPressure is a dual-channel compressor plugin developed by Pelennor DSP.
It handles either left and right channels or mid and side channels.
The plugin is based on the Pressure compressor by Airwindows, known for its high-quality sound.
ComPressure features a unique set of controls that differ from the traditional threshold, attack, and release parameters.
The "Pressure" control acts as the threshold, determining how much compression is applied.
The "Speed" control is a dual-stage, program-dependent attack and release stage, with faster settings to the right and slower settings to the left.
"Mewiness" emulates the characteristics of vari-mu or tube compressors, affecting the extremity of the compression.
"PawClaw" is a transient control, allowing more transient to pass through when set to the left and clamping down on transients when set to the right.
ComPressure also includes a soft clipper for hearing protection, a high-pass sidechain filter, and an external sidechain input. It is available in VST3 and CLAP formats for Windows and VST3 and AU formats for macOS.
Tips
- Use the "Pressure" control to adjust the amount of compression applied to your audio material.
- Experiment with the "Speed" control to find the right attack and release times for your track.
- Adjust the "Mewiness" control to add a vari-mu style compression character to your sound.
- Use the "PawClaw" control to manage transients, allowing more or less transient to pass through.
- Utilize the high-pass sidechain filter to prevent low frequencies from triggering the compressor.
- Take advantage of the external sidechain input for more advanced compression techniques.
- Use the gain reduction limit to achieve extreme compression effects without losing dynamic range.
- Apply the soft clipper to protect your hearing and avoid distortion.
- Link parameters between channels for consistent compression settings across your mix.
- Use the bypass switches to compare the compressed and uncompressed signals.
