Description

Fantamidi by Granvia is a step sequencer and MIDI generator that creates scale-aware melodies, bass lines, and chord progressions in real time. It works as a VST3 and AU plugin inside your DAW, letting you generate musical ideas with a few clicks and drag the resulting MIDI patterns directly into your arrangement.

The sequencer splits into dedicated Main and Bass areas, each with independent randomization controls. Every note it generates respects your chosen key and scale, so the output stays musically coherent even when randomizing aggressively.

Version 2.0 introduced a chord generation system with tension control, voicing adjustments between tight and wide configurations, and inner note movement for evolving harmonic textures. A shuffle modulation feature restructures MIDI patterns automatically to match new keys, making key changes effortless.

Fantamidi also includes a built-in synth engine for auditioning ideas without loading a separate instrument. Once you find a pattern you like, drag-and-drop MIDI export sends it straight into your DAW's timeline.

The plugin runs on Windows 10 or later and macOS 11.5 or later with Apple Silicon support. It is available in VST3 format for both platforms and AU for macOS.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Fantamidi Free and the Full version?

Fantamidi Free includes the core MIDI randomization, built-in synth, and drag-and-drop export. The Full version ($12) adds manual note editing, additional sequencer steps, pattern snapshots, and expanded control options including the v2.0 chord generation and shuffle modulation features.

Does Fantamidi use generative AI to create its MIDI patterns?

No. The developer explicitly states that no generative AI is used. Fantamidi generates patterns through algorithmic randomization constrained to musical scales and keys, not machine learning or neural networks.

Which DAWs has Fantamidi been tested with?

Granvia has tested Fantamidi in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, REAPER, and Cubase. Other DAWs supporting VST3 or AU formats may work but are untested by the developer.

Can Fantamidi generate chord progressions?

Yes. Version 2.0 added a chord generation system that lets you expand the number of notes in a chord, adjust voicing width between tight and wide configurations, control harmonic tension, and preview the result in real time through the built-in synth.
