Description
Filtron by Polyverse is a 12dB state variable filter that smoothly morphs between lowpass, bandpass, and highpass modes. It pairs self-oscillating resonance (cranked up to 11) with a fat internal saturation algorithm and a sizzly post-overdrive offering two distinct characters: cold for screaming TB-303-style acid riffs, and hot for warm fuzzy coloration.
The plugin's real strength lies in its CV-style sidechain modulation system. Every parameter can be driven by external control voltage signals from modular-style generators like Polyverse Gatekeeper, with each stereo channel treated as a separate modulation source and full optimization for audio-rate modulation.
This combination of smooth filter morphing and aggressive drive staging makes Filtron effective across a wide range of tasks. It excels at crafting resonant kick drums from a high-pass setup with a touch of drive, building squelchy acid basslines, and adding harmonic grit to pads and synths without destroying the original character.
Under the hood, Filtron uses a zero-delay feedback filter design with internal oversampling. Version 1.1.1 introduced a fine-tuned oversampling algorithm that delivers cleaner, warmer, and more dynamic audio across the board.
The interface is sleek and resizable from 50% to 200%, with stylish knob designs that visually respond to parameter values. Filtron runs as a 64-bit plugin in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats on Windows 7+ and macOS 10.13+ with native Apple Silicon support.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the cold and hot overdrive modes in Filtron?
Cold mode produces a screaming, aggressive overdrive ideal for TB-303-style acid riffs and cutting lead sounds. Hot mode delivers a warmer, fuzzier saturation that adds body and harmonic richness without harshness. Both modes react differently depending on input level.
How does Filtron's CV sidechain modulation work?
Filtron can receive control voltage signals through its sidechain input from CV generators like Polyverse Gatekeeper or modular synthesizers. Each channel in a stereo pair acts as a separate modulation source, and the modulation runs at audio rate for extremely fast and detailed parameter control.
Can Filtron be used for more than just filter sweeps?
Yes. With high resonance and a touch of drive on a highpass setting, Filtron can synthesize meaty kick drums from incoming audio. It also works well for taming harsh frequencies on guitars, adding grit to pads and vocals, and creating squelchy modulated textures for electronic music.
Does Filtron require an iLok or any copy protection?
No. Filtron uses no copy protection at all. You simply provide a name and email on the Polyverse website to receive a download link, and the plugin installs without any license management software.
