Description
GGate is a noise gate VST plugin that silences incoming audio signals below a user-defined threshold.
This plugin helps reduce background noise during silent passages, like the hum of an amplifier or artifacts from an effect chain.
GGate has three main controls: threshold, fade, and attack.
The threshold control sets the level below which the audio signal is silenced.
The fade control determines how long it takes for the gate to close once the signal drops below the threshold.
The attack control adjusts the speed at which the signal is unmuted once it rises above the threshold.
This plugin is great for creating cleaner mixes by reducing unwanted noise and works well on high-gain guitar parts, vocal tracks, and other instruments.
Tips
- Use the gate to control background noise on tracks, allowing for a cleaner mix.
- On high-gain guitar parts, use GGate to emphasize staccato-like passages and palm-muting techniques.
- Adjust the fade control to avoid noticeable quick fades, unless a specific effect is desired.
- Monitor the visual feedback meter to fine-tune the threshold setting.
- Experiment with different attack times to achieve the desired sound for various instruments.
- Combine GGate with other effects to enhance its noise reduction capabilities.
