Podolski by u-he is a lightweight virtual analogue synthesizer built around a single oscillator, one multimode filter, one envelope, and two LFOs. Originally created as a giveaway for Musikmesse 2005 and later distributed as magazine cover-mount software, it became permanent freeware in December 2012 with a refreshed GUI, new presets by Howard Scarr, and expanded plugin format support.
Despite its stripped-back architecture, Podolski delivers a remarkably wide sonic range from smooth pads to gritty basses and cutting leads. The oscillator features variable symmetry for continuous morphing between sawtooth, triangle, and pulse width modulation waveforms via the WaveWarp control.
