Description

Realizer is a random transient processor VST plugin designed for Windows and macOS.

It is developed by Analog Obsession and adds variability and nuance to digital audio workstations (DAWs) that might otherwise lack the subtle imperfections of live performances.

The plugin features a unique interface that looks like a hand-patch electronics kit on a breadboard, making it visually distinct and engaging.

Realizer works by generating random transient values, which can be applied to various audio parameters, such as gain, pitch, and filtering.

This functionality is particularly useful for adding dynamic variations to static drum samples, synths, and other percussive instruments.

The plugin includes six knobs on its interface, each corresponding to different random value ranges, allowing users to fine-tune the degree of variability introduced to their audio tracks.

While the gain and transient variations are highly effective for drums and percussive elements, the pitch variations can enhance static wavetable softsynths.

The filtering feature, although less commonly used, can still provide unique effects in certain contexts.

Tips

  • Use the gain variation knob to add dynamic range to static drum samples.
  • Apply transient variations to percussive instruments for a more natural sound.
  • Experiment with pitch variations on static synths to introduce subtle detuning effects.
  • Utilize the filtering option sparingly to avoid losing the full frequency range of your notes.
  • Combine Realizer with other effects like reverb and delay for more complex soundscapes.
  • Save different knob settings as presets to quickly recall specific randomization patterns.
  • Use Realizer on duplicated tracks to create a pseudo-doubling effect with slight variations.
