Description
SlickEQ is a mixing and mastering equalizer designed for ease of use, musical flexibility, and great sound.
It is a joint effort between Variety of Sound (Herbert Goldberg) and Tokyo Dawn Labs (Vladislav Goncharov and Fabien Schivre).
The plugin features a semi-parametric layout with three main filter bands (Low, Mid, High) and an extra high-pass filter.
SlickEQ offers four distinct EQ modes, each with its own set of predefined EQ curves and behaviors.
The plugin includes a switchable EQ non-linearity and an output stage with multiple saturation models to add harmonic content and analog color.
An auto-gain function compensates for changes in perceived loudness during EQ operation.
SlickEQ can process audio in stereo, mono, and mid/side modes, providing flexibility in various mixing and mastering scenarios.
The plugin is built with a 64-bit multirate processing structure to eliminate common digital EQ issues such as frequency warping, quantization distortion, and aliasing.
Tips
- Use the auto-gain function to maintain consistent perceived loudness while adjusting EQ settings.
- Experiment with different EQ models to find the best fit for your track's character.
- Utilize the mid/side processing mode to enhance stereo width and depth.
- Apply subtle saturation using the output stage models to add analog warmth and harmonic content.
- Take advantage of the undo/redo and A/B comparison features to fine-tune your EQ settings.
- Use the high-pass filter to clean up low-end rumble and unwanted frequencies.
- Adjust the output stage drive to control the amount of harmonic content without altering input/output levels.
