Description

Warmy EP1A Tube EQ V2.1 by Kiive Audio is an analog-modeled Pultec-style equalizer built to deliver the silky-smooth EQ curves and rich tube warmth of the classic hardware. Completely redesigned from the ground up in version 2.1, it features all-new DSP, a streamlined toolbar, and a dedicated tube saturation section that was absent from earlier releases.

The EQ section provides low boost, low cut, high boost, high cut, and bandwidth controls modeled using non-linear algorithms to match the original Pultec unit. This means you can use the legendary low-frequency trick of boosting and cutting the same frequency simultaneously to shape a large but focused bass response.

Version 2.1 introduced a THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) knob that puts tube saturation under direct control. Dial it up for full-bodied analog warmth or keep it low for a cleaner, more transparent tone.

The plugin supports up to 16x oversampling for pristine audio quality and ships with over 20 factory presets. KVR reviewers consistently praise its smooth high-frequency boost and note that it often outperforms the Waves EQP-1A in transparency.

Warmy EP1A includes a resizable GUI, input and output gain controls, and built-in undo/redo buttons. It runs natively on Apple Silicon and requires no iLok authorization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Pultec plugin is the best alternative to hardware?

Warmy EP1A V2.1 is widely considered one of the most faithful Pultec emulations available. KVR reviewers note it sounds more transparent and clean than the Waves EQP-1A, while still capturing the characteristic smooth boost curves of the original hardware.

What does the THD knob do in Warmy EP1A V2.1?

The THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) knob controls the amount of tube saturation applied to the signal. At low settings it adds a subtle analog character, while higher settings deliver rich, full-bodied tube warmth. This feature was added in version 2.1.

What is the Pultec EQ trick and does Warmy EP1A support it?

The Pultec trick involves simultaneously boosting and cutting at the same low frequency, which creates a resonant peak followed by a dip that adds perceived weight without muddiness. Warmy EP1A fully supports this technique through its non-linear modeled low-frequency section.

Does Plugin Alliance have a Pultec EQ?

Plugin Alliance offers the Lindell Audio PEX-500 and the Bettermaker EQ232D, both of which include Pultec-style passive EQ sections. However, neither is a direct one-to-one Pultec EQP-1A emulation like Warmy EP1A.
