Description
Dragonfly Plate Reverb is a high-fidelity plate reverb plugin created by Michael Willis.
It uses the Nverb and STRev algorithms from Freeverb3 VST.
The plugin offers various plate and tank presets, letting users try different reverb textures.
The Wet and Dry level controls are separate from the presets, so users can adjust levels without changing the preset settings.
Dragonfly Plate Reverb has three reverb types: Simple, Nested, and Tank.
The Simple type uses a thin plate algorithm with a sparse tail and slight early reflections.
The Nested type uses a thick plate algorithm with a dense tail and no early reflections.
The Tank type is based on Jon Dattorro’s Effect Design paper and gives a unique tank reverb sound.
The plugin includes controls for Width, Predelay, and Decay, as well as pre-reverb Low cut and High cut settings.
It also has a Dampen control that applies a low pass filter to the reverb algorithm’s internal feedback loop.
Tips
- Experiment with different reverb types (Simple, Nested, Tank) to find the best fit for your track.
- Use the Width control to adjust the stereo spread of the reverb.
- Adjust the Predelay to create a sense of space and depth in your mix.
- Utilize the Low cut and High cut settings to shape the reverb’s frequency response.
- Apply the Dampen control to manage the brightness of the reverb tail.
- Combine Dragonfly Plate Reverb with other reverb types (e.g., Hall, Room) for complex and rich spatial effects.
- Use the separate Wet and Dry level controls to maintain consistent levels while switching presets.
