Description
Panflow by Audiomodern is a creative panning modulator and stereo rhythm generator that shapes complex, evolving panning patterns in real-time. It adds random, rhythmical movement to any audio track with host-tempo synchronization and MIDI control.
The interface centers on a freehand pattern editor where you click and drag nodes to draw custom panning curves. Three curve modes are available: straight lines for precise movements, curved lines for smooth sweeps, and stepped lines for glitchy, rhythmic effects.
A Random button generates patterns instantly across three complexity levels (Simple, Medium, Complex), while the Infinity mode continuously randomizes the sequence with every cycle so no two patterns repeat. Speed ranges from 1/16 notes to 16 bars with adjustable grid divisions for fine-grained timing control.
Panflow includes an Instant/Tap Bypass designed for live performance, letting you cut the effect on the fly without latency. MIDI output functionality opens up creative routing possibilities, and a quick-load preset system makes it easy to browse and recall settings mid-session.
The plugin runs natively on Apple Silicon and supports M1/M2 processors without Rosetta. It is available as a standalone application and as an iOS app alongside the desktop plugin formats.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Panflow work as a standalone application outside of a DAW?
Yes. Panflow includes a standalone version alongside the plugin formats, so you can run it independently without loading it in a DAW. There is also an iOS app available on the App Store for mobile use.
How does the Infinity mode differ from standard pattern randomization?
The Random button generates a new pattern once based on the selected complexity level. Infinity mode goes further by automatically re-randomizing the sequence at the end of every cycle, producing continuously evolving patterns where no two loops are the same.
Can Panflow output MIDI data to control other plugins?
Yes. Panflow has MIDI output functionality that lets you route its generated panning data to other instruments or effects in your DAW. This opens up creative possibilities like using panning patterns to modulate parameters on synths or other processors.
